The FactSage 7.1 Update/Installation (2017) package was released in January 2017.

Here we post the most recent messages about FactSage 7.1 including items not addressed in What's New in FactSage 7.1
To date the modules and databases are mainly working as designed, but there are some 'glitches' as reported below. Some only appear if you downloaded CD-FactSage71.exe on or before 2017-01-31 - January 31, 2017.
It has been determined that there is a mass balance error with 'Open' calculations involving [streams] when the mass units are 'grams'. This error has been present since FactSage 7.0. It will be addressed in a future version of FactSage.
For client installations running on a FactSage network the folder FactSage-TEACH, which contains the documention and databases for FactSage-TEACH, may be missing or may not be correctly copied from the server installation.
To install the missing folder download FactSage-TEACH_71.zip and copy the folder FactSage-TEACH to the client FactSage folder - typically c:\FactSage\FactSage-TEACH
The folder Ex_Streams, which contains the example of recycling [streams], is missing from the installation package.
To install the missing folder download Ex_Streams_71.zip and copy the folder Ex_Streams to the \MACROS folder - typically c:\FactSage\MACROS\Ex_Streams
The Viscosity module will crash if the FactSage folder name contains a space, for example c:\FactSage 7.1
Clearly you can avoid this problem by not using a space in the first place, for example c:\FactSage7.1
If this is not convenient, you can call the Viscosity program directly by opening the file FactVisc.exe that is stored in the \Viscosity sub-folder,
for example c:\FactSage 7.1\Viscosity\FactVisc.exe
FactPS compound data for the OPCl3 gas phase are in error. Do not include this OPCl3 gas phase in your calculations.
As a fix you can select the OPCl3 gas phase from the FTdemo database.
This error occurs when you have 8 or more reactants and you are employing a Reactants Table created in the Reactants Window. The error can appear while editing the table or in the Menu Window when you click on the Reactants Table check box,
To avoid this bug do not employ a Reactants Table if there are more than 7 reactants.
This error occurs when you 'save' a file (Equi*.dat, Phas*.dat) and then change your mind and 'cancel'.
For example, suppose you have opened the Equilib (or Phase Diagram) file 1234. In the Menu Window if you specify 'save' the program posts the message 'Saving file 1234 ... Enter one line of comments ...'. If you change your mind and select 'cancel' the original file will be deleted.
To avoid this bug do not 'cancel' when saving a file that is already stored.
Suppose you specify a fixed activity (say P(o2) = 0.01) and you specify a range with five temperatures (say T = 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500). In the Output Window the 5 pages of results will be correct but may not be ordered with respect to T.
To order the results with respect to T in the Output Window click on 'Output > Swap T and activity loops'.
Note:
Should you also specify a range with five activities (say P(o2) = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05)
you can click on 'Swap T and activity loops' to order the 25 pages of results with repect to P(o2) or with repect to T.
(This option to swap the order of 2 ranges is new in FactSage 7.1).
To fix the following issues you can download the complete package (CD-FactSage71.exe) and update/refresh your 7.1 installation.
The download file CD-FactSage71.exe has been corrected for the following items.
This error only applies to cases where CD-FactSage71.exe was downloaded on or before January 31, 2017.
This error occurs when calculating certain phase diagrams.
This only applies to cases where CD-FactSage71.exe was downloaded on or before January 30, 2017.
In the Reaction Table the last column on the right hand side may be incorrectly labeled as 'U' or 'Delta U'. In such cases it should be labeled as 'Keq' (isothermal standard state reaction), 'A' or 'Delta A'
This warning only applies to cases where CD-FactSage71.exe was downloaded before January 27, 2017.
The warning appears when you 'Search phase diagrams' and enter the elements. The effect is that the list of phase diagrams is not complete.
Look at the 'Date Modified' column. If this is not visible 'mouse-right-click' on the top row and add 'Date Modified'.
Most of the FactSage modules (*.exe and .dll files) have the 'Date Modified': 2017-01-01, 7:10.
In the 'latest version of FactSage 7.1' the following three files have been updated.:
